In light of recent circumstances, the UTSA Flute Ensemble came together virtually to perform the UTSA Alma Mater. This is one unique way for Future Roadrunners to learn the melody that defines UTSA and encapsulates what it means to be a Roadrunner.
Watch the video below to see the Flute Ensemble perform the UTSA Alma Mater. The Flute Ensemble is part of the UTSA Department of Music and is devoted to performing music written for flute choir. The ensemble has an active performance schedule as well as performing at UTSA receptions and other collaborations.
The Roadrunners who performed in the video on flute are Ben Carlee, Julia Uriegas, Nicole Moriel, Nadia Hernandez, Sirena Nunez, Lisette Aguilar, Ryan Luna, Dominic Valadez, Sydney Guerrier, Bryana Ramirez, Reagan Lujan and Josephine Medina. The students performing on alto flute are Esmeralda Acosta and Jordan Rodriguez. Students Carlos Cruz and Claudia Cuellar also perform on the bass flute.
Under the direction of Dr. Rachel Woolf since 2019, the UTSA Flute Ensemble is committed to commissioning new works for flute ensemble, beginning with three new works by UTSA student composers to premiere at the National Flute Association (NFA) Convention in Dallas, TX in August 2020 (rescheduled to 2021 in Washington DC).
