UTSA is taking leaps and making strides on the global level.

The university has placed among the top institutions in the Times Higher Education’s 2021 World University Rankings by being ranked at 119 out of 181 U.S. universities. In the world, UTSA placed within the 501–600 bracket.

For Times Higher Education’s annual rankings about 1,527 schools from across 93 countries were assessed based on five key areas in higher education excellence. The key areas, which are referred to as pillars, focus on teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.

UTSA performed the strongest in citations at 70.8%. Citations are an assessment that quantifies the number of times scholarly work is cited in global publications. According to Times Higher Education, it “analyzed more than 80 million citations across 13 million research publications and included survey responses from 22,000 scholars globally.”
