What is SEA?

The Strategic Enrollment Academy (SEA) is an experiential learning program that enables student workers in the Strategic Enrollment division to experience different career options. Students can work with other departments within the division to gain insight into different job functions while gaining hands-on experience and building a professional network.

How It Works 

Participants will start in their home department where they will complete their first Academy Experience. Each department position represents a unique skill set for the participant to learn and experience. After completion of the position appointment term, the participant can begin a new position with a different department, or stay with the current department.

Job Descriptions

The Enrollment Marketing, Communications & Systems (EMCS) department at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is seeking a creative and motivated student to join our team as a Student Marketing Assistant. This work study role is an exciting opportunity for students passionate about marketing and communications to gain hands-on experience and contribute to UTSA’s strategic enrollment goals.

Responsibilities:

1. Video Production and Content Creation:

· Assist with creating engaging video content, including scripting, talent coordination, filming, and editing.

· Produce videos like “A Day in the Life” of UTSA students, showcase top study spots, and highlight key aspects of our academic programs.

· Support the creation of promotional videos to boost enrollment efforts.

2. Market Research and Analysis:

· Conduct qualitative research through focus groups to explore the strengths and appeal of UTSA.

· Design and distribute surveys, recruit participants, and analyze data to inform marketing strategies and improve UTSA’s appeal to prospective students.

3. Web Content Management:

· Learn and apply Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools to update and manage web content.

· Enhance the Explore and academic program pages on the UTSA website with new, engaging content including student spotlights and program highlights based on research and interviews.

· Collaborate with professors across various colleges to gather and update content that highlights UTSA’s programs.

4. Email and Advertisement Drafting:

· Assist in drafting and editing email communications and advertisements to promote UTSA’s programs and engage prospective students effectively.

Requirements:

· Must be a current UTSA student eligible for work study funding.

· Strong interest in marketing, communications, or related fields.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

· Basic knowledge of video production and editing is advantageous.

· Familiarity with web content management systems is a plus but not required.

The UTSA Financial Aid & Scholarships Office is looking for students who want to be peer mentors in the area of Financial Success! The peer mentors will be responsible for learning and sharing financial information pertaining to budgeting, loan borrowing, debt management, financial aid, scholarships, building credit, etc., in order to successfully mentor fellow UTSA students.

Responsibilities:

· Participating in outreach events for Financial Success and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships

· Conducting one-on-one peer advising sessions with prospective and current students

· Teaching in areas of Money Management and Financial Aid

· Facilitating workshops in the classroom and virtually

· Communicate with students via Social Media Platforms

· Assist other areas in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships as needed

· Administrative, clerical, and other duties

Requirements:

· Qualify for Financial Aid Work-Study

· Minimum GPA of 2.8 w/ at least one semester of coursework at UTSA

· Strong customer service and speaking skills

· Demonstrate professionalism and punctuality

· Possess competency in areas of financial education or be passionate to learn

· Ability to work with diverse groups of students from a variety of backgrounds

Schedule:

· Part-time Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm (15-19 hrs per week)

· Position begins in the Spring, with the option of working throughout the Summer

· Occasional events on Saturdays may be required

· In-person job duties will take place on UTSA Main Campus

The One Stop Enrollment Center is seeking motivated and customer-oriented Student Assistants to join our team. As a Student Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tier one service to our student community and their families. This position primarily involves working in a call-center environment, with occasional reception desk duties.

Responsibilities:

· Provide excellent customer service to students and families regarding Admissions and Registration inquiries

· Assist with answering phone calls, responding to emails, and addressing student concerns

· Collaborate with UTSA staff members to ensure efficient service delivery

· Attend to walk-in inquiries at the reception desk when required

· Participate in extensive training on customer service and Admissions/Registration processes

Requirements:

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Customer service experience or interest

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure

· Basic computer skills and familiarity with office software

Note: This is a part-time position with flexible hours, offering a competitive hourly wage. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply. Orientation Leaders (OLs) are a dedicated group of UTSA student leaders that work for Orientation and Family Programs. OLs uphold a strong tradition of excellence and professionalism in their work. They serve as a resource and guide to incoming students and families. They take great pride in UTSA spirit and traditions while participating in Orientation for all undergraduate students (domestic and international), as well as Family Orientation.

Responsibilities:

· Assist in facilitating Freshman, Transfer, and Family Orientation programs

· Aid in the preparation and day of logistics for all orientation programs such as check-in, nametag prep, signage, preparing perks for all programs, etc.

· Learn and give in-person campus tours to new, incoming students

· Lead students and families through orientation activities to ensure a smooth transition to UTSA

· Create a welcoming environment for new students and facilitate connections among student groups

· Support marketing efforts as needed (videos, photos, etc)

· Complete Call and Text Campaigns for orientation and recruitment activities

· Participate in staff and professional development activities

· Other duties as assigned

Requirements

· Maintain at least a 2.25 GPA in both UTSA cumulative and semester

· If applicable-attend Spring 2025 training workshop sessions held on select dates

· Be enrolled full time for Fall 2025 by May 2025

· Pass a grade and conduct check each semester

· Cannot be registered for summer classes within the University of Texas System

· Cannot be dually appointed with another office on-campus for the Summer 2025 season

· Attend all mandatory training events (see work/training section below)

· Demonstrates a high level of responsibility, self-motivation, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and upholds confidentiality of sensitive information

· Ability to conduct public speaking and assist with presentations such as campus tours, lead small group sessions, and/or serve on a panel

· Ability to provide excellent customer service to all students, family members, and guests

· Availability to work all summer programs – June 2 – August 15

· Able to walk long distances, stand for long periods of time, and some light lifting

Schedule:

· Appointment runs from spring through summer.

· Spring hours (12-19 hours a week) -supporting programs and attending trainings

· Summer Hours up to 30 hours a week -facilitating programs

UTSA Welcome Center & Events Tour Guide plays an integral role in the campus community and are a critical part in welcoming in Future Roadrunners, Alumni, and UTSA Special Guests.

Responsibilities:

· Act as a representative of UTSA.

· Welcome, assist, and escort individual and group visitors around campus.

· Provide information, explanations, directions and way finding services.

· Meet, greet, and mingle with prospective students and their families.

· Must be able to work in a professional office environment and routinely use standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and copier.

· Lead groups of students and/or family members in various discussions and activities throughout each visit.

· Maintain order and management of small and large groups and must be able to speak clearly and effectively for long periods.

· Facilitate various tour guide duties including but not limited to: guest check-in, event set-up/clean-up, office coverage, clerical work, etc.

· Being familiar with all UTSA Campuses and the ability to research information as needed to assist students and guests.

· The WCE tour guide work within the UTSA Main or Downtown campus and conduct guided tours of the campus and surrounding buildings.

· Conduct individual, daily, group, or VIP tours (spring, summer and fall) at the Main Campus or Downtown Campus- based on assignment.

· WCE tour guide must be able to travel between buildings, maintain control of large or small groups of people, sometimes in inclement weather is required.

· The WCE tour guide must be able to stand and/or walk long distances and walk up and down stairs, and possible light lifting.

· Assist and participate in special programs and recruitment events including UTSA Day (fall/spring), Info Sessions, Campus Visits, Info Sessions, Admitted Events, Spring Break Tours, Orientation and Special Programs as needed

· Assist with Calls with an Ambassador

· Assist with Call Campaigns for Welcome Center, Orientation and Recruitment

· Work closely with all New Student Programs & Events Student and Executive Staff including the Student Coordinators, Orientation Leaders, and Student Staff Assistants as needed.

· Troubleshoot during various campus experiences and events.

· Driving a UTSA Golf Cart

· Serve as UTSA Mascot Handler

· Other duties as assigned

· Participate in team building

· Participate in all tour guide training and development: Retreat, Leadership Team Retreats, Intensive Training, etc.

· Other duties as assigned

· Support daily office operations with clerical and receptionist duties including answering phones, assist with virtual office hours, data entry, Salesforce emails, and follow-up

· Understand and manage tour and event reservation system via Salesforce

· Assist in signing up students for various tours and events

· Other duties as assigned

· Maintain a minimum UTSA Cumulative GPA of 2.25 for each participating semester; be enrolled full-time for Fall and Spring semesters of each Academic Year.

Schedule

· The Welcome Center & Events tour guides is offered 10-19 hours per week, based on the season and academic/class schedule

· Some late night and weekend work is required.

· Each tour guide is evaluated each semester to ensure each student is meeting the academic, conduct and performance criteria for the position. A standard or above standard performance is recommended for satisfactory performance.

· Summer appointment is based on fall and spring performance.

· The evaluation is conducted by members of the Executive Team.

Students must meet the following qualifications before applying for SEA:

• Undergraduate student
• Currently employed in Strategic Enrollment
• In good standing with home department
