Find your familia
UTSA is all about familia. When you join the Roadrunner family, you’ll be joining a strong community. We are proud to provide an environment designed to nurture your academic and personal growth, support your wellbeing, and provide you with the tools to create your bold future.
Live on campus
In addition to community, there are a ton of benefits to living on campus, such as increased average GPA and close proximity to your classes and other campus resources. UTSA currently has six on-campus housing options (with one more coming in 2025), ranging from traditional residence halls to apartment-style living. There are also some unique opportunities for housing that can help advance your academic and professional success:
- Special Interest Housing, like the Honors Residential College
- Bold Scholars programb
- Themed residential communities like First-Gen Familia, Wellbeing Living and Learning and La Comunidad
- Academic college housing like Business Living Learning Community, Klesse Focused Interest Group and COS Freshman Interest Group
- And many more!
Get involved
There are so many ways to get involved on campus and create lasting connections at UTSA. We house over 300 student-led organizations where you can meet other students with similar interests, explore a new hobby, engage in community service, or even develop professional skills.
Pursue your passions
Do you play a musical instrument? Music is just one way to get involved on campus. You can join a music ensemble at UTSA without majoring in music, including the Spirit of San Antonio (SOSA), our beloved marching band. Learn more about ensembles from Juan, who is part of SOSA!
Explore Campus Resources
Roadrunners come from many different backgrounds. UTSA has resources available to ensure that every student has the tools to succeed, find their community and adjust to college life.
Dreamer(s) is an inclusive term for undocumented students both with and without Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The UTSA Dreamers Resource Center exists to serve any Roadrunner who is a Dreamer, or who comes from a mixed-status family, in efforts to support them from enrollment through graduation.
UTSA’s Fostering Futures Program supports students who have a history of foster care to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed from admissions to alumni status. They provide this community of Roadrunners with many services from financial assistance; coaching and workshops; housing assistance; special events and more!
First-generation students make up about 45% of our undergraduate students, and 40% are transfer students. So, UTSA’s First-Generation and Transfer Student Programs serve almost half of the undergrad student population! From hosting events like First-Gen Fest and Transfer Student Week, providing mentorship and more, the FGTSP supports the success of these students every step of the way while they work toward their degrees.
UTSA’s First-Year Experience Program works to support first-year-in-college students through peer mentorship, community, and academic support.
University Peer Mentorship (UPM) – The UPM program pairs first-year UTSA students with a peer mentor, who supports them as they adjust to college life. Peer Mentors meet one-on-one with students to ensure they thrive in academics, social settings, and their personal lives!
