UT San Antonio is included in the American Athletic Conference, and we house 17 NCAA Division I athletic teams. If you’re not interested in becoming a student athlete, you can still support our teams! All UT San Antonio students get free admission to all home athletic games.
Intramural sports are a perfect for students interested in sports but not a part of our Division I athletic teams. All students are welcome to participate. It’s a fun way to engage in some friendly competition on campus. Intramural offers several sports like flag football, soccer, dodgeball, table tennis and more.
If you enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, camping or kayaking, you can pay a visit to our Outdoor Pursuits center! There you can rent out equipment to go on adventures of your own or join the center in regularly organized trips and activities.
The UT San Antonio Rec Aquatic Center is home to one lap pool and one leisure pool, allowing you to enjoy the facilities whether you’re swimming for exercise or fun! The Aquatic Center also features a Sand Volleyball Court for you to enjoy.
There are many ways to stay active as a Roadrunner. We have several resources dedicated to health and wellness, from group exercise classes, our demo kitchen, fitness competitions and more!
Whether you’re at the Downtown or Main Campus, you have a Campus Recreation Center available to you. There’s multiple facilities and amenities to take advantage of. From rows of exercise machines to our Aquatics center to our Rockwall, there’s something for everyone!

The UTSA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics offers 17 sports at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the American Conference, which it joined on July 1, 2023 and is San Antonio’s nationally recognized NCAA Division I program.

UTSA Athletics develops champions in the classroom, in competition and in life, while serving as an integral part of the undergraduate student experience, enhancing the visibility of the university and engaging the community.
UTSA Athletics boasts more than 80 conference championships, over 60 NCAA postseason appearances, 71 All-Americans and nearly two dozen Academic All-Americans. UTSA Football played in their first bowl game in 2016 (New Mexico Bowl) and later made the move to the American in 2023.

Three Roadrunner athletes were chosen for spots in this year’s Major League Baseball draft, with a fourth athlete signing on with the San Diego Padres as an undrafted free agent. This marks the second consecutive season with multiple selections from UTSA. The ‘Runners secured the American Conference regular season championship win this year, marking their second championship win in a row.

UT San Antonio’s College of AI, Cyber and Computing is collaborating with UTSA Athletics to apply data science to things like ticket sales and athlete performance. The initiative is led by Greg Young, a student in the masters in statistics and data science program. By analyzing player metrics from UTSA’s baseball and softball teams as well as ticket sales for past football games, Greg and his peers on the project hope to maximize efficiency in these areas, improving ticket sales for local football games and providing fresh and informed perspective for the baseball and softball team coaches.
