Admissions and financial aid processes vary for each program at our six Health Science Center schools. Undergraduate Pathways to Clinical Health Programs

Health Professions Office

Not every future doctor, dentist or physical therapist starts in a professional program — and that’s where UT San Antonio’s Health Professions Office (HPO) comes in. We support undergraduate students from any major who are interested in pursuing a health career after graduation, offering personalized advising, application guidance and resources to help you stay on track and stand out. HPO offers general advising to help you explore the following clinical health fields:

Professional Health Pathways

UT San Antonio provides pathways for undergraduates to pursue careers in clinical health. Students begin by applying to a major at UT San Antonio. Once enrolled, the Health Professions Office (HPO) offers guidance and support to help students prepare for competitive admission into various clinical health fields.

Dual-Degree Pathway to Dental Surgery – Once enrolled, if you are a biology undergraduate who meets the program requirements, you can apply to the Dental Early Acceptance Program (DEAP), a 3+4 BS/DDS dual-degree program to earn a bachelor’s degree from our College of Sciences and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from our School of Dentistry within seven years.

Dual-Degree Pathway to Medical Laboratory Science – Once enrolled, if you are studying biology, chemistry or microbiology/immunology and meet the requirements, you can apply to the Medical Laboratory Science Early Acceptance Program, a 3+2 BS/MLS dual-degree program to earn a bachelor’s degree from our College of Sciences and a Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from our School of Health Professions within five years.

Dual-Degree Pathway to Physical Therapy – Once enrolled, if you are majoring in biology or kinesiology and meet the requirements, you can apply to the Physical Therapy Early Acceptance Program, a 3+3 BS/DPT dual-degree program where students can earn a bachelor’s degree from our College of Sciences or College for Health, Community and Policy and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from our School of Health Professions within six years.

Dual-Degree Pathway to Respiratory Care – Once enrolled, if you are studying biology or kinesiology and meet the requirements, you can apply to the Respiratory Care Early Acceptance Program (RCEAP), a 3+2 BS/MSRC dual-degree program to earn a bachelor’s degree from our College of Sciences or College for Health, Community and Policy and a Master of Science in Respiratory Care from our School of Health Professions within five years.

Pathway to Nursing – Once enrolled, if you are a Multidisciplinary Studies undergraduate and meet the program requirements, you can apply to the 2+2 BS/BSN Facilitated Agreement to Nursing School (FANS) program to earn two bachelor’s degrees, including a bachelor’s degree from our School of Nursing, within four years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Admission processes for our Health Science Center schools will remain the same. The admission process for these schools is separate from the admission process for our programs at our eight academic colleges.

Financial aid processes will remain the same for our Health Science Center schools and run separately from the financial aid process for our academic colleges.

Tuition and fee structures are determined based on the program in which a student enrolls.

Currently, Bold Promise is only offered to eligible undergraduate students seeking to enroll in one of our academic colleges. Potential expansion of the program will be evaluated. At this time, we do not anticipate any changes to program eligibility.

Currently, students enrolled in one of our academic colleges who wish to change their major into a program offered at one of our Health Science Center schools must apply for admission into that Health Science Center program.

We are excited about the potential for greater access for all our students to facilities like libraries and campus recreation, which plays an important role in student well-being. Currently, the university is exploring ways to provide reciprocal benefits for students. Our Health Science Center will remain the primary campus for students enrolled in our Health Science Center schools. Our Main Campus and Downtown Campus facilities are accessible for students enrolled in our academic colleges.
