Why Pursue a Master's Degree in Communication
Students in the Master of Arts in Communication are encouraged to develop broad perspectives in applying research, discovery, critical thinking, and creative enterprise of individuals and groups in a variety of settings. Our faculty endeavor to develop students’ knowledge and skills in communication to encourage success in leadership, scholarship, and creative endeavors in business, the public sector, and non-profit environments.

Admission & Application Requirements
Applications are submitted through the UT San Antonio Graduate Application. Please upload all required documents (listed below) on your UT San Antonio Graduate Application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure completion and submission of the application, a nonrefundable application fee, and all required supporting documents are on file with UT San Antonio by the appropriate application deadline.

Anyone who has a 3.0 GPA for the past 60 credit hours and has 18 credit hours of coursework in Communication or related disciplines completed in an undergraduate program are welcome to apply.
The Master of Arts degree in Communication covers a wide spectrum with courses focused on digital, health, organizational, international, intercultural, interpersonal and small group communication.
We offer a student-centered program that helps students meet their research and career goals and enables them to work with our world-class faculty at their own pace. Our students take advantage of both the full-time and part-time options. As such, most students are registered full-time and they complete the program within two years.
M.A. graduates in Communication have gone on to top doctoral programs in the Communication discipline. Others hold professional positions in a variety of fields including teaching, advising, educational administration, research, academia, human resources, management, journalism, website management, health care, marketing and government consulting.
A number of paid graduate teaching and research assistantships, as well as fellowships are available to qualified students.
