Why Pursue a Multidisciplinary Studies Degree in Applied Data Science
UT San Antonio’s Applied Data Science degree allows students to study multiple fields such as data science, math computing, and business analytics. In addition to gaining the ability to blend data interference, algorithmic development, and using technology to solve analytically complex problems, students in the Applied Data Science program will train in one of three specialized domains: cyber intelligence, digital humanities, or political science.

What is a Multidisciplinary Studies degree?
The Multidisciplinary Studies program allows students to create a customized degree or to choose an already-designed niche program. Applied Data Science in the Field is one of the niche programs students can apply for. This degree combines courses from different disciplines across multiple colleges into a coherent course of study to meet career and educational goals.
College of AI, Cyber and Computing
This program will be continuously administered by University College and is expected to transition to the College of AI, Cyber and Computing in Fall 2026. The college advances expertise in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computing and data science to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving technology landscape, fostering collaboration, applied research and partnerships with industry to drive innovation and address real-world challenges.

Admission Requirements
When you apply to UT San Antonio, you select the major you'd like to study. The choice of major will not impact if you get admitted to the University (all students must meet UT San Antonio's general admission requirements); however, some majors will require additional admission requirements to be able to declare the major your freshman year.

UT San Antonio offers an automatic merit-based scholarship to incoming new freshman and transfer students who display exceptional scholastic achievement in high school by the priority deadline. Non-resident and international students awarded a Distinguished Scholarship for a minimum of $1,000 for the academic year will be granted a waiver for non-resident tuition if scholarship eligibility is maintained. This means out-of-state and international students could pay in-state tuition! For fall admitted freshmen, this scholarship is valued up to $20,000 for up to four years. For fall or spring admitted transfer students, this scholarship is valued up to $6,000 for up to two years. Renewal eligibility must be maintained and funding must be available.
