Why Pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering

UTSA’s Computer Engineering degree will give you the broad engineering skills you’ll need to develop and manage digital systems. You’ll blend the disciplines of math, computer science and electrical engineering together as you learn about logic design, digital systems design, computer organization, microprocessor assembly programming and more. After you earn your degree, you’ll find career opportunities in designing and testing hardware like routers, microprocessors, motherboards and more.

Admission Requirements

When you apply to UTSA, you select the major you'd like to study. The choice of major will not impact if you get admitted to the University (all students must meet UTSA's general admission requirements); however, some majors will require additional admission requirements to be able to declare the major your freshman year.

Computer Engineering: To major in Computer Engineering, you must meet the following admission requirements. Freshman and transfer students who do not meet these requirements but meet UTSA’s general admission requirements will be admitted into Engineering, Math and Sciences Studies where students will be able to work towards meeting the pre-requisites needed to declare their major. Freshmen and freshmen transfers with SAT scores below 1200 or ACT scores below 25 may undergo admission by committee review.
