Why Pursue a English Bachelor's Degree

At UTSA, you can earn an English degree with an optional concentration in either Professional Writing, Creative Writing, or English Language Arts and Reading. Concentrations are declared after you’ve been admitted and have met with your academic advisor. In this program, you’ll take liberal arts and humanities courses to cover a broad range of topics like American and British literature, linguistics, rhetoric, writing, cross-cultural ethnic studies, gender studies, and more. A degree in English will prepare you for careers as a writer, editor, high school teacher, public relations specialist, or serve as a stepping stone to further your education in graduate school.

Admission Requirements

When you apply to UTSA, you select the major you'd like to study. The choice of major will not impact if you get admitted to the University (all students must meet UTSA's general admission requirements); however, some majors will require additional admission requirements to be able to declare the major your freshman year.
