Although UTSA does not offer a law degree, our Pre-Law pathway provides a variety of services and programs tailored to your stage in your undergraduate education and law school application process. The Pre-Law pathway helps students complete pre-requisites and gain a legal perspective in preparation for law school and a legal career. This program is offered through UTSA’s Institute for Law and Public Affairs (ILPA).
If you are considering a career in law, this pathway can assist you with:
- Selecting relevant undergraduate courses
- LSAT preparation
- Organizing your academic timeline
- Navigating the application process
Your Pre-Law advisor will help you make more informed decisions about your preparation for law school and legal career. For individual Pre-Law advising appointments, please contact your prelaw advisor at email@example.com or set up a Pre-Law appointment with the Institute for Law and Public Affairs (ILPA) in Handshake.
When you apply to UTSA, you select the major you'd like to study. The choice of major will not impact if you get admitted to the University (all students must meet UTSA's general admission requirements); however, some majors will require additional admission requirements to be able to declare the major your freshman year.
|Pre-Law: There are no additional admission requirements to pursue Pre-Law at UTSA other than meeting degree requirements for your intended major. Depending on your declared major while pursuing Pre-Law, you may be required to meet unique admissions requirements or complete prerequisites. Please reference the degree program you intend to pursue for more details!|
Pro Tip: Even if you don't think you will qualify for financial aid, you should still submit the FAFSA! Information from the FAFSA could impact certain scholarships that are even merit-based.
