Biomedical Engineering
Doubrapade Azazi is a Roadrunner who’s taking every opportunity to reach his bold future. From the beginning, he had his heart set on majoring in Biomedical Engineering, which is one of the reasons he chose UTSA. “I enjoy coming up with creative solutions that need to be addressed in the medical field, and I feel like UTSA’s Biomedical Engineering program can help me with that passion.” Having a brother who graduated UTSA only solidified his choice.
Doubra participated in the Najim Strategist Program, where students get the opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers to solve real-world problems for local companies. Working with a company like the Pearl, a major tourist attraction in downtown San Antonio, was one of the more noteworthy aspects of Doubra’s experience. “One of my favorite parts was presenting to the Pearl board members. After all of the research and effort we put into the project, we were finally able to showcase it to the Pearl executives.”
Doubra has also been involved at UTSA through student organizations on campus. As a first-generation Nigerian student, the African Students Association has helped him build friendships and connections to thrive in his college life. He’s also a part of the Biomedical Engineering Society and the National Society of Black Engineers.
After graduation, Doubra plans on finding an industry-leading company that can utilize his skills as a Biomedical Engineer. He also hopes to become CEO of his own clothing company.
Students like Doubra are proof that there are opportunities for everyone at UTSA, and each Roadrunner has the tools to excel and reach their goals.
