Get to Know Adrian
Adrian Rodriguez-Estrada is a Roadrunner student-athlete with a bright future in the engineering field.
Adrian entered UTSA as a freshman and joined the men’s basketball team. The Roadrunner athletics department was a large part of what drew Adrian to UTSA. “When I came here on my official visit for athletics, hanging out with all the coaches and players really felt like home,” he says. While he enjoys playing with the UTSA men’s basketball team, it’s also helped him succeed at UTSA and learn important skills for the future.
How was your experience as a student-athlete?
“My experience as a student athlete has really helped me understand the importance of time commitment and time management,” he says.
A Bold Future
Along with his career as a student-athlete, Adrian was able to secure an internship at J. Eftekhar & Associates, an accident reconstruction company, where he helped with inspections, ran simulation graphics, and other tasks where he could apply his knowledge of mechanical engineering. Adrian’s work at J. Eftekhar paid off. He now has a full-time job lined up at the company after his graduation.
Getting Involved
Adrian advises new students to get involved on campus. “There are all sorts of activities and groups, so get involved, meet new people” he says. “The best advice I’ve received is it’s not about what you know, it’s who you know.” Adrian is a great example of the connections and opportunities you can find at UTSA.
