Get to Know Alessandro

The tech world isn’t where Alessandro Espinosa expected to find his future career. Before coming to The University of Texas at San Antonio, he wanted to be an astronaut. Exploring the requirements for working at NASA is what led him to discover computer science. When he enrolled at the university, he decided to double major in computer science and software engineering.

Professional Development

Alessandro participated in five internships in both industry and government roles while at the university. His internship with the MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit organization that manages federally funded research centers for the U.S. government, allowed him to gain experience in digital engineering and systems modeling as he assisted the U.S. Air Force in exploring artificial intelligence. He also worked with Uber as a software engineering intern, where he contributed to a weather-based tipping feature for Uber Eats.

Future-Focused

Alessandro helped with quality assurance as an intern at the digital platform FICO Marketplace, which provides organizations with access to data, analytics and AI tools for improved business decision-making. He continued gaining professional skills and experience through opportunities like working with a local startup focused on data management and serving as a data science intern at CPS Energy where he focused on predictive analytics and AI integration. These experiences at UT San Antonio secured him a position at FICO Marketplace after graduation, where he’ll work as a solutions engineer intern.
