Get to Know Amanda

Amanda Salas was excited when she received her acceptance letter to UT San Antonio, but she didn’t know what to expect as a first-generation student. Luckily, she had all the resources she needed to succeed throughout her time as a student and beyond.

Campus Resources

When Amanda arrived at UT San Antonio, she benefited greatly from the resources available to her. The LEAD Summer Academy helped her learn important life skills that helped her thrive on campus. Each academic college at The University of Texas at San Antonio has its own Student Success Center that helps students prepare for their careers through specialized services, which Amanda took full advantage of. Her academic advisor, Sylvia Mansour, guided her through building her college schedule and solidifying her major.

Choosing a Major

Amanda chose to major in multidisciplinary studies, which gave her the option to create a customized degree plan tailored to her interests and career aspirations. Her program’s areas of focus were film, communication and business, which she knew would provide a variety of options when selecting a career.
