Get to Know Anthony
With Anthony Quintero’s experience moving around as part of a military family and his academic excellence in high school, he had many options for a higher education. He found that UT San Antonio was the best choice for continuing his education both academically and financially. As a Bold Promise student who participated in the Bold Scholars living-learning program, he quickly made connections on campus and gained the confidence he needed to succeed in his studies.

Professional Development
Anthony first considered a career in medicine, but after spending a summer exploring his options and speaking with his advisor he decided to major in cybersecurity. The more he studied cybersecurity, the more invested in the field he became. He soon landed a competitive internship at ASRC Federal, a government contractor working with national security agencies. He got to travel to Reston, Virginia for orientation, and gained hands-on experience and networking opportunities.
Preparing for the Future
Anthony has tangible career goals thanks to his time at UT San Antonio. He plans to return to the university for a master’s degree in information technology with a concentration in cybersecurity after he spends some time in the Air National Guard reserves. With these experiences and credentials, he hopes to become an officer with the Air National Guard working in cyber operations.

"Being accepted as a Bold Scholar is what convinced me to come [to UT San Antonio]."
