Securing an Internship

Carly Schneider was among the first data science interns at Victory Capital, selected from 400 applicants for a 10-week summer role with the company’s data and analytics team based in San Antonio. Dan Fleming, Analytics Translator and Data Governance Lead at Victory Capital, commended Carly’s performance and fit with the team.

“It was such a natural and organic fit because Carly came in eager to learn, she’s self-driving, and she understood the opportunities. She was very well prepared and professional, which aligns perfectly with our culture,” Fleming said.

Growing In-Demand Skills

Carly attributes part of her success to skills instilled by her mom, who has been a significant influence in her life and education. “[My mother] has imparted invaluable communication skills, enabling me to engage effectively with professors and establish a robust professional network,” she said.

Carly’s dedication, combined with her soft skills and networking ability, played a crucial role in landing a full-time position. “After being offered my current job, I was told that I stood out because of my soft skills, and that was the best compliment I could’ve received” she said.
