Get to Know Chloe
Chloe Barnes was looking for a place close to her home city of San Antonio to continue her education. She realized that UT San Antonio, her dad’s alma mater, offered her a quality education in her own backyard. It was an easy choice to follow in her dad’s footsteps and apply to the university, where she enrolled as a geography and environmental sustainability major.
Getting Involved
While studying at UT San Antonio, Chloe joined the Black Student Union on campus and eventually became a co-community service coordinator for the organization. She made use of her familiarity and ties with the San Antonio community in planning events to bring students together to work with organizations around the city. Her work with the Black Student Union helped her build important soft skills like communication and teamwork that she could apply to any career.

Walking the Stage
After completing her bachelor’s, Chloe continued to study at UT San Antonio and walked the stage again in 2025 for her Master of Arts in Geography. The skills and connections she made at UT San Antonio empowered her to pursue her PhD at another university, where she’s currently studying.
"[UT San Antonio] has taught me so much in such a short amount of time."
