Get to Know Denali
Denali Gonzales has always had a passion for art, which led her to study art history and criticism at UT San Antonio. Internships she participated in through the university helped her solidify her career goals to focus on museum work and art conservation.
Exploring Opportunities
UT San Antonio provides a quality education while also empowering students to seek development outside of the classroom. Denali did so by studying abroad in South Korea and pursuing internships in her field. Her most recent internship was as a curatorial intern with the university’s Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC).

Hands-on Experience
Denali’s internship at the ITC offered her exposure to various aspects of museum work including collections, exhibits and education. During her internship she worked on a new exhibit surrounding a Texas Homecoming tradition and assisted the ITC with moving to a new location. The experience combined her interests of art and science while also giving her real-world application for her coursework. Her work at the ITC inspired her to pursue a career in art conservation science and gave her a clear plan for the future. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and continue gaining experience in conservation.
"UT San Antonio has taught me that when you stay curious and put in the work, those opportunities that once felt out of reach can absolutely become possible.”
