Get to Know Diego

Diego Barron developed an interest in video games at an early age, and his career aspirations quickly focused on designing video games himself. That’s why he joined UT San Antonio’s first cohort of students in the game design concentration of the multidisciplinary studies program.

Career-Engaged Learning

The game design program allowed Diego to explore several different roles involved in game development including sound and music production, animation, writing and more. This cross-disciplinary approach broadened his perspective and helped him build and improve upon his professional and creative skill sets. Now, no matter what aspect of game design he chooses to pursue, he’ll have the base knowledge he needs to thrive in the industry.

Getting Involved

Diego moved to San Antonio from El Paso to attend the university, so he decided to get involved on campus to develop a stronger sense of community in a new city. Alongside joining interest-based organizations like the Game Developers Student Club and a campus running club, he was selected to become a member of the President’s Student Advisory Council and the University College Student Advisory Council. Both organizations are designed to offer feedback and a student perspective to the President of the university and dean of the University College respectively. He also served as a University College Student Ambassador where he supported his fellow students as a peer mentor. These experiences helped Diego build meaningful relationships with his peers and become more familiar with the campus and its resources.

"The game design courses helped me build and strengthen my portfolio and creative skill set."
