Get to Know Inor

When Inor Wang’s original plan for a career in medicine didn’t go as expected, he found himself in need of a new direction for his undergraduate studies. While still in high school, a JROTC instructor introduced him to the cyber field through the CyberPatriots Program. He decided to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he could enroll in one of the top cybersecurity degree programs in the nation.

Getting Involved

Beyond his major, Inor wanted to get the full Roadrunner experience. He made time to enjoy campus life through frequent visits to Campus Recreation, joined student organizations like the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and participated in events and learning opportunities like serving as the social media lead for RowdyHacks, the university’s annual hackathon. These opportunities helped Inor grow as a student and an individual.

Hands-On Experience

Inor had several opportunities to apply his classroom learning to real-world scenarios. He participated in the H-E-B Community Innovation Scholars program, which connects students with local nonprofit organizations to solve challenges with data science and AI skills. His internship with the university’s Security Operations Center (SOC) allowed him to apply his cybersecurity skills to real investigations. This helped him develop technical and professional skills to give him a competitive edge when starting his career. Before graduation, Inor secured employment with EvoTech LLC, a local, women-owned information technology (IT) and cybersecurity consulting company, where he’ll be working as a network operations center analyst.

“Overall, my time here at UT San Antonio is what I wanted it to be and made it to be!”
