Get to Know Juan
Juan Ramirez Garcia fell in love with music when he first started studying it in the third grade. That passion never wavered, so deciding to further his education as a music major was a no-brainer for him. The quality of UT San Antonio’s music program convinced him to enroll at the university and become the first in his family to attend college.
Getting Involved
When Juan joined UT San Antonio’s Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band, also known as SOSA, he knew he wanted to serve in the organization’s leadership. With the support of his peers, he was able to serve as a Drum Major for SOSA his junior year despite encountering challenges with his health. He thrived in this leadership position and eventually became Head Drum Major.
Paying it Forward
Juan plans to use his degree to become a band director. He hopes to give his future students the same support and inspiration that he received from his peers and faculty at UT San Antonio.
