Get to Know Kaylee
Like many students, Kaylee’s journey through higher education wasn’t straightforward. She started at a different university majoring in forensic science and later kinesiology. She’d always had a passion for technology but didn’t feel confident to explore a career in the field. However, with some encouragement, she finally dedicated herself to studying tech and became part of the first cohort of graduates from the College of AI, Cyber and Computing at UT San Antonio as a computer science major.
Getting Involved
At UT San Antonio, navigating her busy schedule of classes, work and extracurriculars was easier with the support of campus organizations like the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). She also found the Outdoor Pursuits program with the campus Recreation Center to be particularly helpful. Renting gear and taking small trips out in nature helped her keep a clear head and manage stress.

Professional Development
Kaylee found multiple experiential learning opportunities including her Undergraduate Research Fellowship with the School of Data Science. Her research project studied how blind and low-vision individuals interact with artificial intelligence. The experience helped her develop research skills while also allowing her to support a community she cared about. For two consecutive summers, Kaylee interned with AnaVation, a technology and cybersolutions company, where she learned important skills for her future career path.
“I would not be where I am today without [UT San Antonio's] scholarships, resources and community.”
