Get to Know Mignon
Mignon Frances Dumanjog started her college journey by obtaining a degree in physics, but she didn’t stop there. Her desire to help people brought her to the field of biomedical engineering, leading her to pursue a biomedical degree at UTSA.
Choosing the Right Path
For Mignon, biomedical engineering was a way to combine her physics knowledge with her passion for improving the lives of medical patients and her interest in biology and physiology. “I wanted to be an engineer because I wanted to see my ideas come to life,” she says. The joint UTSA and UT Health biomedical engineering program interested Mignon because of the potential wealth of resources and research opportunities between UT Health’s clinical environment and UTSA’s engineering prowess.
Reflecting and Looking Forward
Mignon’s time at UTSA was well-spent. She had the opportunity to apprentice at research labs like Qutub, where she currently works. She also took advantage of the additional resources UTSA offers like counseling, tutoring and even the Rec. After graduation, she plans to present the research she participated in at conferences and symposiums. Her long-term goal is to work in biotech as an AI engineer in medicine.

"I was really drawn to the joint Biomedical Engineering program with UT Health because I felt like there would be an extended amount of resources and research opportunities."
