Get to Know Peyton
Peyton Guidry is an accounting major who’s aspiring toward a career in corporate leadership. He’s a member of the Honors College, which encourages its high-achieving, academically driven students to pursue personal and professional development through experiential learning outside of the classroom. Through these experiential learning opportunities, Peyton developed leadership skills while also applying concepts from his accounting courses.
Making Connections
During Peyton’s freshman year, a friend introduced him to the UT San Antonio Ambassadors program, which he quickly joined. The Ambassadors represent UT San Antonio at prestigious university events. Through the program, Peyton made valuable connections with alumni, prospective employers and university leadership, which also helped him find several internships, including one with Ernst & Young (EY), one of the Big 4 accounting firms.
Becoming a Leader
Peyton’s time as an ambassador helped him grow into a leader capable of revitalizing an organization, as he did just that with the Ambassadors program. His sophomore year he became the Treasurer for the organization, learning financial and organizational skills relevant to accounting. Later, he was elected president of the Ambassadors, and through a rebranding effort that he led, he took the organization from thirteen members to almost fifty. Thanks to the support he’s received at UT San Antonio, Peyton feels ready to pursue a career as a corporate leader who can lead an organization in a meaningful way much like he did for the Ambassadors program.
