In the Spotlight

Finding the Resources to Succeed

At UTSA, Stephanie found the tools she needed to afford a high-quality, excellent education. UTSA’s Bold Promise covers 100% of a first-time freshman’s tuition and fees for four years if they meet certain criteria, and the Bold Scholars program offers additional support and networking. “UTSA is the place to be with all the resources,” Stephanie said. “Everyone is welcoming, and they want to help you succeed.”

Getting Involved on Campus

Stephanie was actively involved in several student organizations, including her sorority Delta Sigma Pi, the Investment Society, the Professional Businesswoman Society, and the Association of Latino Professionals for America.

She also participated in business immersions to San Francisco and Washington, D.C. as well as site visits and roundtables through the Embrey Real Estate Finance and Development program. “I had so many opportunities to connect with my peers as well as with leaders in the real estate industry, like Walter Embrey,” she said.

Making Lifelong Friends

Meeting her best friend her first year at UTSA, Stephanie expanded her global perspectives by traveling with friends internationally to Brazil, Japan, Indonesia and Jordan as well as within the United States. “I love the diversity and perspective that I’ve gained at UTSA,” Stephanie said. “One of the best things about UTSA is the relationships that I have developed.”

Landing a Leading Career

Stephanie took advantage of UTSA’s opportunities to grow her career readiness through internships. She credits the University Career Center, the Alvarez Student Success Center and the Najim Center for Innovation and Career Advancement with helping prepare her professionally.

Last summer, Stephanie interned as an investment banking analyst with Wells Fargo in New York City. One of her projects included pitching an investment retail suite based locally in Buda, TX. “What made this project even more important was the fact that my performance would determine whether I received a full-time offer,” she added. Now, as a full-time banking analyst with Wells Fargo, Stephanie is taking bolds steps towards her future in New York City.
