Get to Know Emma
UT San Antonio offered Emma Tharp unique opportunities that she knew she had to take advantage of. She earned her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, graduating fully prepared to launch a successful career in the field.

Becoming a Roadrunner
At first, Emma was pursuing a career in neurology with the intention of going to medical school. However, the more she learned about the field, the more she realized her calling was counseling. When choosing a university for grad school, UT San Antonio’s standout neurofeedback program made it the obvious choice for her.
Experiential Learning
Alongside her courses, Emma participated and placed first in the Graduate Student Ethics Competition at the American Counseling Association (ACA) conference with her peers. She also engaged in multiple research projects as a graduate research assistant at the Urban Education Institute. Her experience with research inspired her to continue her education at UT San Antonio by pursuing a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision.

“I chose UTSA specifically because its neurofeedback program is one of the few of its kind offered by universities.”
