Get to Know Alinna
When Alinna Garcia began studying finance at the University of Texas at San Antonio, she considered herself introverted and lacking confidence in things like public speaking. Her time at the university changed that. The experiences she participated in throughout her academic career gave her communication and networking skills, which she used to secure a job after graduation.
Securing a Future
Participating in the Rowdy Corps Community Scholars Program at UT San Antonio gave Alinna the chance to work within the local community while earning hands-on experience in her field. She was assigned to an internship at the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT), where she served as a program coordinator.

Her internship provided networking opportunities with some of the regulars at SAMSAT, like representatives of Nelco Media, a company that was building a concert arena in the same building at the time. Her networking paid off, and she eventually got to meet their President and CEO, Phillip Nelson. That connection led to a job offer, and before long she’d secured full-time employment with the company.
“UT San Antonio gave me the hands-on experience and foundation to turn my interests into a career.”
