We are excited about your interest in The University of Texas at San Antonio. UTSA has a streamlined application process, and our admissions counselors are standing by to help you with a wide range of services and materials.
Before you get started, here are some important items to note:
- UTSA is on both ApplyTexas and Common App platforms. There is a separate UTSA Online application for students interested in a fully online degree program.
- Please submit only one application per term.
- Each applicant for admission is responsible for ensuring that all required documentation are on file in the UTSA Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the application deadline (not postmarked).
- An Admission decision is not rendered until the applicant’s file is complete.
- All documents in support of an application become the property of UTSA and cannot be returned.
- Offers of admission are valid only for the semester indicated in the acceptance letter.
Before you apply, first check you meet UTSA’s admission requirements. Please note that certain majors have additional admission requirements as well. Details for each of these steps are provided below.
1. Submit Admission Application
Students can apply either through ApplyTexas* or Common App. Please choose either ApplyTexas or Common App to submit your application and please submit only one application per term.

- Create an account on ApplyTexas,* the Texas public university application website. You will be assigned a login and password. Keep these for your records.
- Edit and complete your ApplyTexas Profile. Your profile responses help determine which application type(s) you should use
- Start a new application to UTSA by selecting “Four-year college/university” and then select “University of Texas at San Antonio”
- Select your application type
- Dual Credit Application – students who are still in high school who seeks to earn college credit through a dual enrollment program the his/her high school has with UTSA
- Freshmen Application – students who are applying to enroll at UTSA for the first time after graduating from high school (even if you have earned college credit through dual enrollment)
- Transfer Application – students who graduated high school and have enrolled or is still enrolled in a college/university. All college/universities attended must be reported on the application.
- Transient Application – student applying to UTSA as a non-degree seeking student.
- Select your semester
- Select your first choice major
You’ll get redirected to your “My Application” page. Find the “University of Texas at San Antonio” box and click on (+ Admission Application) to find the UTSA-specific application questions you will need to complete.
- Create an account on Common App using either the Freshmen or Transfer Application login. Non-degree seeking, returning and post-baccalaureate applicants should use the Transfer application. You will create your log–in and password. Keep these for your records.
- Once your account is created, add UTSA to your “My Colleges” list by using the College Search tab and then by clicking the plus button.
- Complete and submit your application by going back to the “My Colleges” tab, selecting “The University of Texas at San Antonio,” and then clicking to fill out the Application starting with Questions, then Recommenders and FERPA and Review and Submit Common App. Follow the prompts on the screen to answer the questions.
There is a separate admission application for students interested in pursuing a UTSA Online degree program, which are programs offered 100% fully online.

2. Pay Application Fee
You can pay the non-refundable $70 application fee via credit card through your ApplyTexas application or one of the following ways:
- Online Payment – If you decide to pay via credit card after you submit your application, you may pay via credit card online through ASAP using your myUTSA Account ID and Passphrase. Log into asap.utsa.edu and click the “Future Roadrunner” tab, then click “Check your Admission Status” and scroll to the bottom for the payment button.
- Check or Money Order – You may pay your fee either by check or money order made out to “The University of Texas at San Antonio”. Please include applicant’s full name and date of birth so the payment matches the correct application. It can be mailed to the following address:

- Fee Waiver – UTSA accepts fee waivers for first-time Freshmen only. A student applying as a first-time freshman must use the Fee Waivers provided by either the ACT or SAT and submit supporting documents. All documents should be completed in their entirety.
3. Submit Academic Records
Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) — The Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) is a tool that allows applicants to self-report their courses, grades, class rank, and other academic information. Beginning Fall 2022, UTSA is requiring first-time freshmen applicants to submit a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) instead of an official sixth-semester high school transcript.
Transcripts — Transcripts should be sent electronically. Ask your school to send your official transcript to UTSA through either TREx or SPEEDE. TREx is preferred for high school transcripts and SPEEDE is preferred for college transcripts. Electronic Parchment, E-Script PDF and Naviance transcripts can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. If your school is experiencing an issue sending transcripts, please reach out to your high school counselor and have them submit a copy of your transcript to email@example.com. If your school or institution prefers mailing transcripts, please send an official, sealed copy of your transcript to “The University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Undergraduate Admissions” at One UTSA Circle, San Antonio, TX 78249.
4. Submit Test Scores
For freshman applicants, one of the items we need to complete an admissions file is the SAT or ACT test scores. Students must contact the testing agency (SAT or ACT) to send scores to UTSA. Transfer applicants who must also meet freshmen requirements will also need to submit their SAT or ACT scores. International students who need to submit an English language proficiency test score can submit any of the following: TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced, iTEP Academic.
5. Submit Additional Documents
Once you have your myUTSA ID, you can check your status by logging into your ASAP student portal to see all the remaining items, documents, or forms that are required to complete your admissions file. If you have any questions about UTSA or the application process, feel free to contact the admission counselor for your area.
Essays & Letters of Recommendation — Applicants are encouraged to submit at least one essay and two letters of recommendation. Submit your essay within the ApplyTexas or Common App application. Letters of recommendations can be submitted via the Document Uploader.
After Application Submission
1. Check your Email
What happens after I submit my application? Once your application is submitted via the ApplyTexas website, a thank you email will be sent from either the ApplyTexas or Common App website, not from UTSA. It can take up to two business days for the application to be received by UTSA once it is submitted.
Once UTSA receives your application, you will receive an e-mail from “UTSA One Stop” the receipt of the application. Be sure to save firstname.lastname@example.org in your email address book as you will receive important information regarding your admission status from this email address. Additionally, you will also receive a second email from “UTSA Accounts” to claim your myUTSA ID.
2. Claim your myUTSA ID
You will be issued your “myUTSA ID” once UTSA receives your admission application. Your myUTSA ID consists of 3 letters and 3 numbers (example: abc123), which will provide you access to your UTSA ASAP student portal. The myUTSA ID must be activated and passphrase created by the applicant before they will be able to access ASAP. If access to ASAP becomes blocked, or non-accessible, contact the One Stop Enrollment Center at 1-210-458-8000 or 800-669-0919.
3. Check Your Status
Once you have your myUTSA ID, you can log into your ASAP student portal tocheck your status. Most information is conveniently organized under the “Future Roadrunner” tab. You’ll be able to review your admission status, see your missing application items. Once you’re admitted to UTSA, you’ll see additional information such as your Rowdy Ready Checklist and your Academic Standing.
4. Apply for Financial Aid
Don’t forget Financial Aid! Even if you don’t think you will qualify for federal aid, we recommend all students submit a FAFSA, which is free! You can also complete your FAFSA even before you submit an admission application. If you are not a US citizen, but eligible for Texas aid, submit the TASFA. Both FAFSA/TASFA are free and fairly quick to complete. Even if you don’t think you qualify for aid, you should still submit a FAFSA or TASFA, which can factor into other items like grants and scholarships. 5. Apply for Scholarships
Once you’ve got your myUTSAID and passphrase, you can access the UTSA Scholarship HUB, which is a single-source platform for students to find various scholarship opportunities available to apply to, including the Scholarship Hub’s General Application. UTSA oversees a range of scholarships that are funded by the university, departments/colleges and donors, which are pooled together so you only have to fill out one application. We encourage you to continuously check the Scholarship Hub for additional scholarship opportunities after you submit the Scholarship Hub’s General Application.
Annual Campus Security Report
Each year The University of Texas at San Antonio publishes the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. This report contains crime statistics and on-campus housing fire statistics for the three most recent calendar years. The report includes institutional policies concerning campus security, alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, crime reporting, sexual assault, and other crime-related issues. You can obtain a copy of this report by contacting the Clery Compliance Coordinator at 210-458-4153 or by accessing the Clery Compliance website.
