“I love the campus atmosphere that UTSA has …”
Meet Canaan
Growing up as an Air Force brat, Texas was always one of my favorite places to live, and I had lived in San Antonio for three years in the past. I ended up at UTSA in part because of my best friend — he was a cyber security major and I’m a computer science major, and I’m having a great time in the program.
I’m also very active at Detachment 842 as an Air Force ROTC cadet, and I am the deputy squadron commander of our Arnold Air Society squadron here at UTSA, so I’ve been doing a lot of volunteer work with those two organizations — recruiting, helping out at football games, and going to things like Basura Bash which UTSA participates in. The best friends that I’ve made in college are all from ROTC, and we have really fun opportunities to support the UTSA and San Antonio community.
If everything goes according to plan with Air Force ROTC, I will graduate and commission in a few years. From there I’ll head to pilot training, and hopefully end up in the cockpit of an A-10 Warthog within the next 5 years!
That is why I am so proud to be a Roadrunner.
