“I really love this university and everything that it stands for …”
Meet Rashad
Growing up, I played basketball, ran track and played soccer, but after middle school, I knew football was it for me. I had 13 scholarship offers, and I very seriously considered some other universities, including Boston College, Yale and Tulane. I ended up choosing UTSA for two reasons. One: my major is cyber security, and UTSA is one of the best schools in the nation for cyber. Two: even though I was willing to leave Texas for college, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of building UTSA’s growing football program and keeping more of our local talent here at home. Once I started really looking at the opportunities here at UTSA, it was a no-brainer to commit, and I think back-to-back conference titles has shown I made the right decision.
UTSA is dedicated to excellence, and I feel supported, as a student and as an athlete. When I am on the field in the Alamodome, and I hear that roar of Roadrunner spirit — it’s like nothing else!
I feel like I’ve really grown from all the experiences I’ve had here and all the people I’ve met — UTSA has molded me into who I am today. And it’s definitely an awesome feeling to be a part of building up the athletics program at my hometown university. The future for UTSA — and for me — is bright.
