At UTSA, we regard student families as proud members of the Roadrunner community. As part of our community, we believe that student success improves when parents and families are engaged in their student’s college experience. That makes YOU one of the most influential factors in your student’s education. Our goal is to provide the resources you need to help your student navigate college life’s challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities.

Military Families

The Center for Military Families serves the military community by offering military-connected programs, collaborating with existing organizations and contributing to research and theory that better aims to understand the challenging circumstances in the lives of military families. Our Goal is to make a positive difference in Education, Health, and the overall Well-being of Military Families in San Antonio.

  • Operation Rise Back To School Partnership
  • MCEC Caregivers and S2S Partnerships
  • Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC)
  • Community Organizations
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Training

The UTSA Center for Military Affiliated Students proudly serves over 5,000 service members, veterans and their families so they may achieve their educational goals. As the hometown university of Military City USA, UTSA serves one of the nation’s largest active and retired military populations.
If you are interested in becoming a military-affiliated student at UTSA, CMAS provides resources and guidance to help you navigate the admissions process, access military education benefits, and connect with a supportive community.

UTSA Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) offers a special session of its Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) program at no cost to active-duty military members and their spouses.

This five-week training program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to better understand and support family members with autism. The course covers applied behavior analysis, a therapy designed to improve behavior and social skills in individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. It is recommended for parents, teachers, administrators, healthcare providers, and others who work with children or adults. Participants will learn effective communication and socialization strategies, as well as techniques to reduce challenging behaviors. The program also provides training on data collection to track progress and develop treatment plans effectively.

Earning RBT certification can also be an asset for those pursuing careers in healthcare, social work, mental health counseling, and school psychology.
