Get to Know Harrison
Harrison Wade is an electrical engineering major and transfer student from Australia with a passion for track and field. He was encouraged to become a Roadrunner by UTSA Track and Field Coach David Hartman. Although he encountered challenges along the way, UTSA gave him the tools he needed to overcome them and find success.
Hands-on Experience
As an electrical engineering major, Harrison was able to get hands-on learning through his senior design project. Working with three of his peers, he developed a power data acquisition system for H-E-B Dairy Processing. He also got involved on campus as an elected senior senator in the Student Government Organization and a student government liaison for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Overcoming Obstacles
Harrison spent his first semester at UTSA adjusting to living on his own and getting to know his peers. In his second semester, he suffered an injury preventing him from competing just at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. He relied on the support of his friends and family, and received guidance from his coaches, UTSA medical staff and trainers, and after ten weeks he was back on the track. He had a successful career as a student athlete, achieving Third Team All-Conference at the Conference USA (C-USA) Cross Country Championships in 2019, and contributing to a fifth-place team finish at the 2022 C-USA Championships.

"I credit my success at UTSA to the great people I've met here."
