Get to Know Miranda

Miranda Boggan recently completed her bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in business administration at UT San Antonio and plans to continue her education with the college’s graduate school. During her time as a Roadrunner, Miranda was a member of the Honors College, an officer in the Student Psychology Association, and an assistant in a neuroscience research lab. Thanks to the resources provided by the university like the Honors College and the Najim Center, Miranda thrived during her studies and gained enough experience to take a confident step into the field of psychology after finishing her education.

In the Spotlight

Finding a Career Path

Miranda decided to major in psychology, though she was unsure about her career path. At first, she was drawn to criminal profiling. However, she discovered a passion for helping people, especially those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Following a three-month paid internship at the Autism Treatment Center, Miranda continued her training at Little Spurs Autism Centers, which cater to children with ASD. Here, she found her calling in helping children learn while allowing them to have fun.

Learning through Experience

Miranda presented her work with children with autism at the Roadrunner Experience Showcase, an annual competition hosted by the UT San Antonio Najim Center for Innovation and Career Advancement. She shared insights from her internship and connected with industry professionals, UT San Antonio faculty, staff and students. Her presentation earned her second place,  and the event also gave her a heartwarming interaction with an appreciative parent of a child with autism.

Moving Forward

Before crossing the stage in 2023, she was the keynote speaker at the Honors College Stole and Laurel Ceremony, where students receive their Honors College graduation stole. Miranda spoke about overcoming her fear of public speaking, adjusting to college life and advised her peers to take things one step at a time during their academic journey. After achieving so much through the support of UT San Antonio, Miranda plans to return to the university for a master’s in behavior analysis through the College of Education and Human Development.
