About the Ambassadors

Established in 1988, the UTSA Ambassador Program consists of a select group of 40+ student leaders. UTSA Ambassadors act as student hosts at campus events, university sponsored conferences, and community and alumni functions. If you have a willingness to learn about UTSA and have a sincere desire to represent the University, please consider becoming an Ambassador.

The Ambassador Organization is committed to Service, Leadership, Integrity, and Excellence. Some key events that Ambassadors assist with are:

  • Kickback in the Student Union/Convocation/Commencement/UTSA Day/Spring Break Tours/Daily Tours

Pathways and Requirements

Pathways

The UTSA Ambassador Organization functions as one unit and currently has two ways to enter the program. Requirements of an Ambassador are dependent upon their designation and the requirements are as follows:

Welcome Center Appointed Ambassadors (Paid)

  • Ambassadors who participate in the traditional Ambassador interview, show interest in working in the Welcome Center, and are selected for an additional interview. *Spaces are limited*

Requirements

  • 10-19 hours per week
  • 3-4 tours per week minimum
  • Attend 1 General Meeting per month, which take place on specified Thursdays from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the Welcome Center
  • 1 Appointment with Executive Team Member per month (End of the Month)
  • Required to work Commencement, Spring Break, UTSA Day, etc.
  • UTSA Work Study qualified

*Please note that all hours worked do not result in pay (Ex: General Meetings, Commencement, Alumni Gala, Convocation etc.) In addition, all Welcome Center appointed Ambassadors could qualify for key items such as stoles and a service letter.*

Service Ambassadors (Volunteer/Scholarship)

  • Ambassadors who participate in the traditional Ambassador interview and are selected to provide service to the institution. All Service Ambassadors could qualify for scholarship opportunities, additional recognition on campus, and other incentives (service letter, stole, etc.).

Requirements:

  • Perform a minimum of 9 hours of service each month
  • Present at least 3 tours per month, which count toward the overall 9 hours for the month
  • Attend all Mandatory Events (Commencement, Convocation and UTSA Day)
  • Attend 1 General Meeting per month, which take place on specified Thursdays from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the Welcome Center
  • Schedule 1 appointment with an Executive Team Member at the end of each month

Ambassador of the Month

Every month, the Ambassador Organization likes to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of one of its members. Our Ambassador of the month for June is Natalie Rodriguez.

Ambassador Newsletter

The Ambassador serves to exhibit the various activities and events Ambassadors engage in, as it reminds others of what it truly means to encompass the position at UTSA. The newsletter is dedicated to increase awareness of the program internally as well as to all of our campus partners and beyond.
