Who is a freshman applicant? Freshman or first-year applicants are high school seniors or high school graduates who have not yet gone to college. Even if you have earned dual credit while in high school, as long as you have not gone to college AFTER graduating high school, you will apply as a first-year undergraduate student. On Apply Texas, this will be labeled as “Undergraduate (4 year)” and on Common App, it will be labeled as “First Year Students”.
