Frequently Asked Questions
Guests joining a Main Campus tour will get a welcoming overview of UT San Antonio. This tour is designed for prospective students and their guests, with information focused mostly on the undergraduate student experience.
During the tour, guests will see many of the major areas of campus and hear about academics, student life, traditions, events, and what makes life as a Roadrunner exciting. The route may include high-traffic academic and student spaces such as the Business Building, John Peace Library, Art Building, Flawn Sciences Building, McKinney Humanities Building, Student Union, and Recreation and Wellness Center.
Guests may be able to go inside select buildings during the tour, but access can vary based on the day, time, weather, campus events, and building activity. Because classes and campus operations are taking place during the semester, classroom access is not guaranteed.
We encourage guests to engage with our team throughout the tour, ask questions, and share what they want to learn more about. Our goal is to help you walk away with the information you need and make the most of your visit.
At the end of the Main Campus tour, guests may also choose to join a Housing tour featuring Laurel Village, Guadalupe Hall, and Alvarez Hall.
Yes! Guests are welcome to visit other campus offices or explore campus on their own before or after their tour.

Yes! Students are welcome to bring guests with them on their campus tour.
When registering, please include the number of guests who will be attending with you, not including yourself as the student. If your guest count changes after you register, no worries, our front desk staff will adjust the quantity at check-in.
Yes, we strongly encourage all students to register ahead of time for their preferred tour date and time. Tours have limited space and may fill up, so registering early helps us plan for your visit and provide the best experience possible.
When registering, please use the prospective student’s information, not the parent or guest’s information. This helps us correctly connect the visit to the student who is interested in UT San Antonio.
Each prospective student attending the tour should complete their own registration. If a friend or sibling is also interested in UT San Antonio, they should register separately as a student rather than being added as a guest. This helps us make sure each student is checked in correctly and receives any student materials or swag available during the visit.
Family members and other visitors can be added as guests during the student’s registration. If your guest count changes after you register, our team can help update your reservation when you arrive.
Walk-ins may be accepted when space allows. Walk-in guests will be asked to complete a brief registration form by QR code before joining the tour.
If you arrive late, please still check in with our Welcome Center team. We will do our best to help you join your scheduled tour if the timing allows.
If the tour has already moved too far along, you may be asked to join the next available tour time. If you arrive 30 minutes or more after your scheduled start time, we usually recommend joining a later tour or choosing a self-guided campus visit.
For a self-guided visit, our team can provide a campus map or brochure so you can explore campus at your own pace.
Yes! If you need to cancel or reschedule your tour, our Welcome Center team is happy to help.
You can contact us by phone at 210-458-5145 or by email at [email protected]. Please be ready to share the student’s first and last name, along with the original tour date and time, so we can help locate the reservation.
If you already know which new tour date works best for you, you are also welcome to register for a new tour online. This is often the quickest way to secure your preferred date and time. Then, you can contact our team to cancel the original reservation.
Yes, campus tours operate rain or shine, and our team will do our best to provide a great visit experience whenever it is safe to do so.
We know many guests travel from outside of San Antonio, so we try to adjust the experience instead of canceling right away. If rain or extreme heat is expected, we may begin with a guided virtual tour in the Welcome Center. This allows guests to still hear the same information they would receive at each tour stop while viewing photos or slides of campus spaces. When possible, our team may also adjust the walking route to use more covered or shaded areas.
Before severe weather arrives, we may contact registered guests to share options, such as waiting for a later tour time or rescheduling for another date. Guest safety is always our top priority.
Tours may be canceled or adjusted during severe weather, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, ice, snow, extreme heat, or temperatures below 25 degrees at the time of the tour. Housing tours are also more likely to be canceled on rainy, severe weather, or extreme heat days.
Yes! Our campus tour routes include ADA-accessible options, such as ramps and elevators, whenever possible.
If you or someone in your group needs an accommodation, please contact the Welcome Center at [email protected] at least two weeks before your visit. This gives our team time to review the request and determine what reasonable accommodations may be available for your tour experience.
Please note that UT San Antonio does not provide personal assistance items, such as wheelchairs, or personal mobility support. Guests who need these items should plan to bring them for their visit.
UT San Antonio does not provide wheelchairs, golf cart rides, or other personal assistance items for campus tours.
We understand that every guest’s needs may be different, and we want each visit to be as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Due to safety and liability considerations, guests who need mobility support should plan to bring any personal equipment they may need, such as a wheelchair, walker, or mobility device.
If you or someone in your group needs an accommodation, please contact the Welcome Center at [email protected] at least two weeks before your visit. This gives our team time to review the request and determine what reasonable accommodations may be available for your tour experience.
Yes, registered students can receive an official excuse letter for school or work when they check in for their campus tour.
To receive an excuse letter, the student must be registered for the tour and must complete check-in at the front desk. We are not able to provide an excuse letter for a student who does not check in, since we need to verify that the student attended the tour.
If another prospective student is attending with you, they should register separately as a student rather than being listed as a guest. This allows us to confirm their attendance and provide an excuse letter if needed.
Guests who are listed under another student’s registration are not eligible to receive an excuse letter. We are also not able to sign outside excuse letters or forms.
Daily campus tours are a great option for future freshman and transfer students, since both are undergraduate student populations. The tour gives guests a general overview of UT San Antonio, including academic spaces, campus resources, student life, traditions, and major campus areas.
Graduate and international students are also welcome to attend a daily campus tour. Since the tour is general, we encourage graduate and international students to let our team know their student type when they arrive or when asking questions. This helps us adjust the information we share and point you toward the best next steps.
Students who want more specific information may also want to explore Academic Visits and Information Sessions. Academic Visits are in-person experiences hosted by academic colleges, schools, or campus partners. These visits may include presentations, specialized facility tours, student panels, or time to meet faculty and staff. Information Sessions are virtual sessions that provide more details for specific student groups, such as freshman, transfer, graduate, international, financial aid, honors, and academic college sessions.
Our team is always happy to answer questions during your visit and help guide you to the best visit option based on your interests. You can view available visit options and register online at future.utsa.edu/visit.
We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, water, and weather-appropriate clothing so you can enjoy your visit.
Daily campus tours include time walking around campus, so please plan for the weather. Guests are encouraged to bring an umbrella or rain jacket if rain is in the forecast. On warm or sunny days, sunscreen, sunglasses, or a hat may also be helpful.
Please bring your confirmation email or check-in QR code for a smooth check-in experience. We also recommend bringing a phone or notebook to keep track of questions, notes, and next steps during your visit.
UT San Antonio’s campus is cashless, so guests should plan to bring a debit card, credit card, or mobile payment option for any purchases while on campus. Our team is excited to welcome you and help you make the most of your campus visit.
