UTSA provides many resources for elementary and middle school personnel to help foster a college-going culture within our community. We would love to see our bright young students at UTSA one day but more importantly, students pursuing their higher education degree wherever they choose to go.
Roadrunner for a Day
UTSA Community Outreach hosts both guided and self-guided programs for elementary and middle school group visits. For high school or community college group visits, please schedule through the UTSA Welcome Center.
Guided Program:
The program we provide for elementary and middle school students (grades 3rd-8th) is called Roadrunner for a Day (RR4D). This program will include a 75-minute walking tour and a 45-minute college going presentation with a student panel. This program is approximately two hours long. We can accommodate up to 60 students and 6 adults (total of 66 participants) for each group. One chaperone per ten students is required.
Groups larger than 60 students are encouraged to consider the self-guided tour option.
When registering for your group tour, please provide the total number of students that will be in your group, as well as a name and phone number for the best day-of point of contact. Please refer to our FAQ page for information that may be helpful in planning your visit.
Requests for guided programming during May – August or December – January should be done by emailing communityoutreach@utsa.edu. These requests will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis.
Reservations:
Please note that reservations should be made by the school or organization personnel responsible for arranging the visit. Third-party agencies should contact communityoutreach@utsa.edu to make their reservation on behalf of a school or organization.

For campus tours, we REQUIRE 1 chaperone per every 10 students. Chaperones must stay with students for the presentation and activities.
Check-in
Upon arrival, you will be greeted outside by your campus tour guides and asked for the QR code from your confirmation email. If you arrive early or cannot find your tour guides, please contact us at 210-728-6364.
Cancellations
For cancellations, please notify our office at least three business days in advance. We receive countless requests for campus tours and try our very best to accommodate everyone. If you are not able to keep your scheduled tour as requested, we may not be able to reschedule the tour. Campus tours that are cancelled due to inclement weather will be given priority to reschedule.
Late Policy
Please contact UTSA Community Outreach at (210) 728-6364 if you are running late or lost. If unexpected schedule changes occur the day of the visit, all scheduled activities may not be possible.
Dining on Campus
Our office cannot make arrangements for meals on campus. Please contact Aramark Catering directly at 210-458-7682, at least one week prior to your visit to dine on campus at Roadrunner Café or food courts. A complete list of dining locations and operating hours is available on the UTSA Dining Services webpage.
If your group will be bringing coolers with packed lunches, please note we are unable to store the coolers during your tour. We recommend coordinating with the bus driver to leave the coolers on the bus, or having an arrangement to carry the coolers during the tour.
Assistance
If someone at your school/organization needs special assistance with mobility, please contact our office at least one week prior to your visit. Due to University policy, we are unable to provide wheelchairs for guests. Please contact ADA Disability Resources at ada@utsa.edu for more information.
